Vibrators used for driving mechanical sieves employ a pair of parallel shafts (48, 50) mounted in bearings (40, 42, 52, 54). The shafts carry eccentric masses (62, 64) and are arranged to rotate at equal speeds but in opposite directions. The line of the resultant centrifugal force is arranged to pass through the centre of gravity of the sieve but as the material moves, the centre of gravity also moves. With a toothed gear drive this shift of the centre of gravity causes tooth wear. The invention proposes using rubber rollers (76) which allow a degree of slip so that the line of action of the force is automatically adjusted to pass through the centre of gravity.
|
