The pump has a stator body (1) of elastic material with a bore (2) in the shape of a female helical screw and a cylindrical outer surface. It is surrounded by a split cylindrical shell (4) which is held inside a metal stator casing (10). The elastic body (1) is keyed (8) to the frame (10) so that it cannot rotate. The frame is split longitudinally into two semicircular havles (10a, 10b) which are joined by a hinge (12) at one side and carry flanges (14a, 14b) at the other side. An eye bolt (15) pulls the flanges together to clamp the frame round the stator body. This makes it possible to dismantle the pump for maintenance without having to pull the elastic stator body longitudinally out of the surrounding frame.
