Fluoro-organic copolymers of the ethylene series are stabilised by mixing them with 0.1-15 wt. % (based on the copolymer) of xenon difluoride at is not 20 degrees C. Process increases the operating temp. of the polymer or articles made from it (e.g. heat resistance of a trifluorochloroethylene-vinylidene fluoride copolymer is increased by 50 degrees C.), and prolongs the useful life of the polymer (e.g. the service life of the above copolymer at 250 degrees C. is increased twice. The copolymer is useful in the mfr. of various assemblies, parts, structures and in the prepn. of sealing compounds, rubbers, vulcanisates and polymeric coatings. |
