The process to apply an irregular pattern effect to a continuously moving fabric web uses a number of covering blanks which are placed loosely, and at random, on the fabric before the dyestuff is applied. The process allows a variety of patterned effects, such as points, flecks, cracked ice, batik, to be applied without pattern repeats. Specifically, the loose blanks, in an irregular geometric shape, are assembled together with spaces between them, and passed along a sliding surface to the side of the fabric to be coloured, and to travel with the fabric through the dyeing zone. The blanks can be assembled to mate together and then separate out on the fabric. The dyestuff is applied by pouring or as a spray.
|
