Tool changer for multistage press - has gripping mechanism with rotating shaft parallel to ram operation direction

The tool changing mechanism has a supporting frame with gripper arms (7) and a magazine (8). The entire assembly can be moved away from the multi stage press. For a tool change operation gripper arm positioned between the rams (3) and dies (4) swing into a horizontal position and the supporting frame travels towards the press so that one of the grippers (8) becomes positioned between the ram and the die block. The gripper arm is adjusted vertically so that it comes to rest between the ram and the die of the same stage.
