The roller type counter exhibits a low-valued number roller (1) and a higher-valued number counter (4), controlled by the former, which can be coupled to one another with the aid of a stepping pinion (6). The stepping pinion (6) is provided with teeth (8) of the same tooth width (b) which mesh with a drive toothing (5) of the higher-valued number roller (4) and one of which always engages a stepping element (9) of the lower-value number roller (1) after each full rotation of the latter. The number rollers (1, 4) are constructed without control edge. An aligning device (10) is provided for each number roller (1, 4), which ensures a completely aligned position of the numbers after each rotation of the number rollers (1, 4). The aligning device (10) consists of a rotatable armature (12), one end of which is loaded by a force (K) and the other, fork-shaped end of which is provided with a positioning nose (14) allocated to the drive toothing (2 and, respectively 5) of the number roller (1 and, respectively 4). The positioning nose (14) is arranged on one arm of the fork-shaped end of the armature (12), the other arm of which exhibits a stopping nose (15) used for stopping the number roller (1 and, respectively 4).
