The splined connection between a first and a second shaft comprises splines (12) on the first shaft (10) engaging grooves between the splines (13) in a sleeve (11) secured to the second shaft. The splines in the sleeve are relatively long to accommodate relative axial movement of the shafts. Adjacent the free end of the sleeve the shaft has a cylindrical portion which is engaged by a sliding bearing (14) provided in the sleeve. The bearing which may be a nylon ring is seated in a groove out into the splines adjacent the free end of the sleeve. The bearing supports the shafts in axial alignment. |
