Minerals, ores and other brittle materials are disintegrated by accelerating the material in a pipe system by a carrier gas flow to a speed of over 10 m/s. At the end of each section the material is projected against a wear resistant baffle plate. System retains the advantages of impact communication without the high costs of wear parts in hammer mills and other mechanical impact machinery. Savings are made both in the material cost and in labour costs for repair.
