PURPOSE: To obtain a discontinuous film optical storage media in which thermal writing can be conducted using a low power laser and reading can be conducted using an optical device by providing an active layer, a substrate layer, a reflective layer and a specific metal alloy layer where the active layer can be agglomerated at least partially at heat treatment. CONSTITUTION: In an optical storage media comprising an active layer, a substrate layer, and a reflective layer and useful for storing information readable through an optical device, the active layer is composed of a low melting point alloy layer containing at least about 5 wt.% of more than one kind of metal selected from a group of cadmium, indium, tin, antimony, lead, bismuth, magnesium, copper aluminum, zinc and silver and at least partially agglomerates at the time of heat treatment. The alloy preferably contains 40-85% Sn, 10-50% Bi and 1-15% copper and the alloy layer has thickness of 10-80 Å (1-8 nm), preferably of 30-40 Å (3-4 nm). |
