An appts. is used for electrically stimulating the gums and the roots of the teeth by pulsed current (6); it has an electrode comprising an anode (1) and cathode (2) embracing the entire area to be treated. An insulating layer (5) is disposed between the anode and cathode. The double electrode engages the top and bottom jaws (3, 4) simultaneously. The current source (6) is battery-powered and has a carrying strap (9). The appts. produces an increased blood flow, and is of use in the prevention of atrophy or bleeding of the gums and decay of the teeth.
