Lithog. photo. emulsions of reduced swelling, improved scratch resistance and UV transmission were prepd. by adding 1 mole glyoxal (I) to 0.1-5 mole 2,4-dichloro-6-hydroxy-s-triazine(II) salts in the presence of 0.5-20 mole diols. Thus, a lithog. Ag(Br, Cl, I) emulsion of 100g gelatin and 105g Ag halide contg. I 0.6 x 10-2, II Na salt 0.6 x 10-2, and 1,2-propanediol 0.72 x 10-2 mole/kg had swelling 14.5% scratch resistance 85g, absorbance 0.155 at 360 nm, relative sensitivity 92 and fog 0.07.
