The preparation of the metabolite S 14750/A in free form or in the form of its salts with activity against bacteria and coccidia, and as animal feed additive, is described. The strain NRRL 8077 of the Actinomycetes species Streptomyces hygroscopicus (Jansen 1931) Waksman and Henrici, 1948, is cultured on or in a nutrient medium, and subsequently the metabolite S 14750/A is isolated in free form or in the form of its salts from the nutrient medium. |
