<p>Generally, this invention relates to multilayered belts for use in a papermaking machine which comprise a fibrous base layer the fibers of which are resin encapsulated, and a substantially resin-free fibrous surface layer in which the portions of the fibers which contact the fibers of the base layer are also substantially entirely encapsulated with resin. The invention includes within its scope a method of manufacturing such a belt.</p> |
