The invention provides an anti- theft lock for mounting on a vehicle steering column and having a bolt member (42) which, on removal of the key from the lock, shoots to lock the steering mechanism. The bolt member is attached to, to be movable with, a bolt-retracting slider (38), a cam surface (48) integrally formed on said slider being engaged by a radial projection (58) rotatable with the lock barrel whereby retraction of said slider and bolt member is effected by rotation of the barrel. A locking member (14) ensures that the bolt member does not move to its locking position until the key is completely withdrawn from the barrel and also serves to prevent the barrel rotating when the key is absent. <IMAGE> |
