<p>The supply circuit, is used to feed an arc furnace (1). The circuit regulates arc impedance by varying the position of the electrodes in accordance with a control signal derived from the supply or the arc voltage. The control signal is chosen so that the change in arc impedance leads to constant arc power. When the supply or arc voltage drops below its rated value or rises above it by a specified amount, the control signal alters the arc impedance to keep the arc power constant. Inequalities of electrode loading are evened out by this system.</p> |
