The surface treatment machine for workpieces uses brushes, grinding belts or polishing discs. It has a tool holding head and a movable workpiece carrier. The tool holding head (12) can turn about an axis (16) which passes through the application point (17) of the tool (18) on the workpiece. The tool holding head (12/13) can be adjustably supported along an arc path. The tool (18) is also movably supported on the tool holding head (12) on a pivot arm (19) which may be pivoted out of a rest position against a return force.
