Pellets for oral administration to ruminants comprising a core of pH greater than 5.5, containing a medicament or nutrient beneficial to the ruminant post-ruminally in the abomasum and/or intestines, and having a rumen-resistant coating, are prepared by (a) incorporating into or coating onto the cores a basic substance physiologically acceptable to ruminants, to bring the cores to a pH greater than 5.5, and (b) coating the cores with a polymer resistant to the environment of the rumen but susceptible to breakdown in the abomasum. |
