The pre-cooking cylinder comprises a horizontal, cylindrical, rotary drum through which the prod. is conveyed. The drum rotates coaxially inside a cylindrical, fixed casing fitted with heaters to cook the corn. Oil is dispersed on to the prod. from a supply tank, the coating action being assited by agitator blades on the drum interior. Prior to reaching the precooking cylinder, the hard corn is drawn from a supply silo and pref. passes through preparatory stages including screening, hulling, brushing, milling and winnowing. The prod. delivered from the rotary drum is pref. passed through another winnower. Used for mfr. of Boulgour' corn prod. The prod. retains the attractive colour of hard corn, loses none of its flavour and scarcely any of its vitamin content. |
