The mechanism is designed to lock a cable in position after tension has been applied. The system uses a sleeve which is fixed to the control cable and is partially lodged in a sheath coaxial with the cable before tension is applied. Spring action is exerted on the cable after tension is applied. The pullback opposing device becomes operative as soon as the sleeve is completely extracted from the sheath.
