The profiled bars travel continuously from an extrusion press or mill until they reach a limit switch (a), which triggers a shear blade and a clamp (b) mounted on a trolley. The actuation of the clamp (b) causes the trolley to move in unison with the bar against the pressure of a spring-loaded piston in a hydraulic cylinder. When the shearing of the bar is complete, the piston forces the trolley back to its starting position, ready for the next shearing operation. Instead of limit switch (a), a photocell or a magnetic field may be used to trigger the shears. Automatic and rapid shearing providing increased productivity, but without the need to use heavy moving parts to form the flying shears.
|
