The process is pref. carried out in a fluidised-bed incinerator, which can be charged simultaneously or alternately with cuttings and spent mud. The burner has a primary fuel supply and an air supply, which also supplies air for fluidisation. An auxiliary air supply is provided above the bed to ensure complete combustion. The combustion temp. is controlled by injecting water into the bed or into the combustion zone above the bed, or by injecting auxiliary fuel into the bed. The process allows disposal of cuttings and spent mud without damage to the environment. The use of expensive solvent extraction and distn. techniques is avoided.
|
