<p>The material to be thickened is supplied into the centrifuge via hollow shaft. Due to the rotation of the drum the solid particles under the effect of the centrifugal force separate from the fluid and are deposited in a ring shape around the shaft. In the same time the solid particles content decreases towards the radial channels. When the full-up condition of the drum approaches, the amt. of solid particles separated decreases, but they are forced instead together with the fluid towards the filter forming an auxiliary filtering layer. The resulting pressure increase inside the drum can be picked up at the hollow shaft inlet. At a point, when no more solid particles are removed by centrifugal force the pressure-operated control system slides shell connecting the two drum parts back and the accumulated solid particles are discharged.</p> |
