TFE-ethylene! copolymers - contg. per-fluoroalkyl-vinyl units, with improved tensile properties at high temps., for coating wires

New terpolymers have a volumetric melt flow rate of 10-500 (20-300)mm3/sec., measured at 300 degrees C under a 30 kg/cm2 load. They comprise 40-60 mol.% tetrfluoroethylene, 40-60 mol.% ethylene and 0.1-10 pref. 0.3-5 mol.% of a perfluoroalkyl-vinyl monomer of formula CH2=CH-CnF2n+1 (I) (where n is a whole no. 2-10), e.g. CH2=CHC4F9, CH2=CHC6F13. Pref. the mol. ratio of C2F4:C2H4 is 45:55-55:45 and is pref. >50/50. Used for the high temp. coating of wires, the terpolymers having improved tensile properties and stretch at high temps.
