<p>Four stroke IC engine has inlet and exhaust ports (9, 10) situated in respective cylindrical passages (8) open to the combustion chamber (12) of the engine. Each passage has a piston valve plunger (7) which is reciprocated to open and close the port. The valve members are each connected to a respective eccentric (2, 3) which is driven by the engine crankshaft to operate the valve member. The eccentric is at dead centre positions when the piston is at the ends of its stroke.</p> |
