<p>The dc voltage supply has an input transformer connected by its primary to the ac supply and by its secondary to a rectifier bridge in series with a ballast circuit. The ballast circuit consists of a single transistor coupled to a controller that determines the value of the dc voltage at the supply's output. The transistor and the controller are connected to a loop containing a converter, an operational amplifier and a magnetic amplifier. The magnetic amplifier controls a triac or similar in the transformer's secondary circuit such that the voltage produced by the rectifier is constant.</p> |
