The laminar cladding panels (7-12) have rebated or set back edges to accommodate overlapping edge joints. Nails (5) secure the overlapping edges to a batten (3) beneath, and the arrangement avois thermal and climatic fissures at joints. Rebates may be formed by cranking (71) the panel edge or by machining (91) a cranked edge (71) being overlain by a plane adjacent panel edge (81) and a machined edge (91) being overlain by a similar edge (101) of the opposite hand.
