Locating assembly for collet - is suitable for control knobs with grub screws and uses flatted shaft locating plate in knob skirt

The control knob assembly is designed to provide a rigid, backlash-free, form-locking and friction fit on to the shaft of the control component so that the knob has only one angular position on the shaft. The arrangement is suitable for both coller and grub-screw types of fixing. Inside the skirt of the knob is placed a positioning plate (3). The plate has a central hole which has a flattened side (4). This corresponds to the flat on the shaft of the control component (5). The shaft passes through the plate into the collet or grub-screw bush in the normal way. The plate is located by means of a cutout (8) which engages with a pip (9) formed on the inside edge of the knob skirt. As an alternative to collet fixing, axial or radial screws are used. In the latter case, the point of the screw bears onto the flat section of the shaft.
