<p>The spacer is formed by a single-piece 'T' section, hollow, metal profile with >=1 (partly) hollow chambers. The leg of the T forming the spacer has recesses or projection as stops for the glass, between which two melted-in joints are provided. The profile of the spacer pref. include a flexible rib which balances out the length tolerances and absorbs shock-loading. The support, for a double-glazed window pane etc. makes a seal between the edge zones of the glass panes and the spacer which effectively prevents the penetration of humidity. In addn. the edges of the panes are protected against damage by a frame, the depth of which is equal to the thickness of the finished double pane.</p> |
