Anilides (I ; Y = H, slkyl, halogen, R1 = H, alkyl, alkoxy,R2 = alkyl, R3,R4,R5,R6,R7 = H or alkyl, X = halogen, m=0-2, Z1,Z2=O,S, n=1-2) were prepd. II was refluxed with chloro-α-halogenol at -10-25≦̸C in organic solvent to give I. N-(1,3-dioxolan-2-ylmethyl)-2,6-dimethylaniline at 2 1bs/acre gave 100% control of yellow nutsedge, Johnson grass, pigweed and crabgrass in pre-emergent tests.
