A container (1) has a soft and pliable side wall (2) formed of a heat- shrinkable film and a bottom (3) formed of a stiff material. The container may be of various cross- sections, and may have a strip fastening closure or handles. One method for manufacturing such a container comprises heat sealing a heat-shrinkable tube (2) onto a bottom plate (3), Figures 5(a) and 5(b).
