The mill or turbine has a rotor fixed to a vertical shaft. The rotor itself comprises two like conical dishes with obtuse-angled apexes, typically of 120 deg., and preferably of aluminium plate(17, 13), the first having its apex downwards centrally above a round plate(15) fixed to the vertical shaft, while the second one has the apex upwards and is mounted centrally below the plate. The dishes are each coupled by an annular universal joint to the shaft, so that they can tilt freely in relation to it independently of each other. This causes a number of radial vanes between the dishes to hinge open and shut about a horizontal axis, and when stationary the centre lines of the dishes are in line with each other and with the shaft. In the half-open position all the V-shaped vanes extend in the same direction in relation to the radial.
|
