The microstrip aerial (1) consists of an insulating board with a symmetric pattern of conducting strips on both sides. Each half of the aerial has short conducting lengths parallel to the short side of the board and a long conducting path joining them to the centre feed point. The short conductors vary in length and width in passing away from the centre of the aerial so that the current distribution is nonuniform.
