Body irradiation device with antenna - has concave mirror coupled to body by layer of intermediate dielectric constant

Body regions are irradiated by an antenna(2) in a concave mirro(1) containing a medium(4) such as air of different dielectric constant from the body, coupling to the body being achieved by an arched layers(6) of intermediate dielectric constant. The layer(6) has a focus approximately coincident with the second focus(F2) of the ellipsoidal mirror, within the body. the thickness of the layer(6) is a quarter-wavelength. A number of coupling layers may be provided with dielectric constants uniformly increasing from one layer to the next. The layer(6) dielectric constant is the geometric mean of those of the body and the mirror interior(4).
