Cutting glass or similar material using scoring wheel - mounted on spring loaded piston rod of pneumatic cylinder

A copying device is used to move a hydraulic- or pneumatic cylinder along a prescribed path; and inside the cylinder is a piston (a) with a piston rod (b) on which a cutter head (c) is detachably mounted. The piston (a) is sealed in its cylinder with virtually zero play and is pressed downwards by hydraulic fluid or air against the pressure of a helical spring mounted on rod (b), so head (c) is formed downwards onto the glass pane. Piston (a) is pref. made of Cr-Ni steel with a tolerance below 0.005 mm, and with at least one peripheral groove. The cylinder is pref. connected below the piston to the open atmos. Used for cutting glass panes with automatic control of the vertical position of the head (c) on which the cutting wheel is mounted; and where piston (a) has a long stroke.
