NEW MATERIAL:Platinum (II) complexes of formula I [-B-B- is group of formula II and III (n, m, 1 are 0-3; R1, R2 are H, alkyl, aryl); at least one of A1, A2 is group of formula IV and the other is formula IV or Cl<->, Br<->, I<->]. EXAMPLE:Pt(D-gluconic acid)H2O(cis-1,2-diaminocyclohexane).NO3. USE:Antitumor agent: these complexes attack DNAs in the tumor cells and show very high antitumor activity. Moreover, they cause less nephropathy. PREPARATION:For example, a compound of K2PtX4 (X is halogen) is made to react with a diamine of formula II or III to give a compound of formula I (A1, A2 are X). Then, the product is made to react with silver nitrate to form a compound of formula I where A1, A2 are nitrate. Further, sodium D-gluconate is made to act on the compound to give the compound of formula I where A1, A2 are D-gluconic acid.
