Thermal treatment of viscous material e.g. gluten - in injection drier through two-jet nozzles in particle laden hot air

In the thermal treatment of pasty and viscous material of the consistency of soft rubber, e.g. wheat gluten, the material is injected in a dryer into a flow of hot air, laden with already dried particles of 10-500 mu particle size. Monopumps (RTM) take the material at 1.55-5 bar to a two-jet nozzle, where compressed air at 2.5-7 bar effects the injection into the hot air stream which flows at 20-30 m/s velocity. The arrangement results in a gently and brief drying action of the wheat gluten. IF the air cooling is not sufficient to prevent all deposit formation, water can be readily fed to the nozzles.
