Ladder safety belt slide fitting - has base piece protrusion movable for width reduction

Slide moving in a C-sectioned guideway, in a climber's protective device on a ladder, has a safety-belt fixture and holds a swivelling latch with sloping rear, under spring action. The lug on this protrudes through a hole in a dovetail-shaped base piece and acts with a series of stop faces one above another. One of the two protrusions (16b) making up the base piece is movable towards or away from the other, to reduce the width of this piece. This protrusion may be shaped as a pair of swivel levers swinging about an axis parallel to that of the slide, in conjunction with a stationary protrusion. This enables the slide to be inserted into the stringer wherever the latter is set at any setting on the stringer.
