In a slatted frame for beds, the sloping position of the head part or of the foot part can be adjusted with the aid of guide links (30) which are mounted on the insides of the longitudinal beams (10) of the underframe. A transverse rod provided as the adjusting device is inserted at the insertion opening (41) and engaged in the support receivers (36, 37) on the guide link. The outlet opening on the guide link is closed by a flap (43) which is held in the closed position by its own weight or by spring force. For disengaging the transverse rod, the head part or foot part is raised until the flap (43) opens and releases the transverse rod. The flap (43) then closes the outlet opening so that the transverse rod can slide back into the original starting position only along the boundary web (32). This arrangement guarantees high operational reliability and stability. <IMAGE>
