Filter for inline mounting consists of a cylindrical housing with inlet and outlet branches. Located inside this is a cylindrical vessel, sealed against the inlet and outlet branches, which can be rotated by a bayonet fixture on the top, and which contains a wire mesh basket. To remove the basket for cleaning the outer vessel is rotated to seal the inlet and outlet. The cover is removed and the basket can then be cleaned. To restore the filter on line the procedure is reversed. Used to strain dirt from fluid streams. Known filter types involve isolating the filter by valves. This involves loss of material in draining a liquid and makes installation more complicated and thus expensive.
