The additional antitheft security for the vehicle has a lock (14) inside the gear selector lever, which when operated locks the lever in any set position. The lock operates in conjunction with a security plate (1) over the lever mounting so that the lock is not easily forced. For automatic transmissions the lock prevents operation of the lever release ratchet.
