PURPOSE:To obtain title compound continuously by the following sequential reactions: reaction of phthalic anhydride with allyl alcohol to give a semi-ester; reaction of a metal salt of the resulting semi-ester with a allyl halide in the presence of copper chloride as catalyst; and recovery and reuse of allyl alcohol produced as by-product and the catalyst.
