A burner comprising a cylindrical housing (4) defining a passage for the through-flow of an oxygen-containing gas. One end ofthe housing communicates with a mixing chamber (8), in which the oxygen-containing gas is mixed with a burner gas, such as acetylene gas, whilst the other end of the housing communicates with an expansion valve (1), by means of which the oxygen-containing gas is finely-divided as it enters said housing. Arranged in the housing is an acoustic filter (5) having a number of passages (3) disposed therein. The limit frequency of the filter is such that the frequencies of combustion gases formed in the burner when a backfire occurs, lie within the damping range of the filter. <IMAGE> |
