A plank is cut into strips for redressing and reduction of warp. The strips are then cut transversely into pieces of constant width with cuts aligned to eliminate flaws e.g. knots and shakes. After a final cutting, pieces are joined end to end for cutting into specified lengths. Cuts may be made singly and by a machine with a retractable circular saw slung beneath a working top. Optical aids provide for setting the cutting lines and the machine includes plank-guides with pressure clamps.
|
