<p>The electric kitchen knife has an oscillating motor-driven demountable blade (6). The blade (6) cantilevers out from a handled (2) housing (4), can be detached by actuating a release mechanism (8) and, when detached fits into an external pocket (10) on the housing (3). The arrangement provides a safe means of storing detached blades. The pocket (10) may be of slender elongated rectangular cross-section, may be formed by fixing a flanged 'U' section plate onto the housing (3), and may locate on the normal support surface of the housing (3). The mouth (12) of the pocket (10) may be adjacent to the root of the blade (6) when in the operational position, and the walls of the pocket may have motor ventilation slits through it.</p> |
