The new acids correspond to the formula <IMAGE> in which X1 represents hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or bromine, X2 represents fluorine, chlorine or bromine and X3 represents chlorine, bromine or iodine; the invention also comprises the chlorides of these acids. These acids have antifungal and bactericidal properties; they can thus be used especially in agriculture for controlling parasitic fungi of crops, and as industrial biocides, especially for protecting industrial fillers and adhesives. They can also be used, as well as their chlorides, as intermediates in the synthesis of new esters having insecticidal activity and other products. They can be prepared from 2,2-dimethyl-3-(2'-X1-2'-X2-vinyl)cyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid by chlorination, bromination or iodination, followed by optional conversion to a chloride.
