Siphon in hydraulic pipeline with pump boost - has corresponding turbine on falling side of siphon

The object of the proposed system is to employ the principle of a hydraulic siphon in a liquid pipe line in places where the obstacle to be traversed cannot be overcome by the naturally available pressure. in order to operate the siphon a motor driven turbine pump is inserted in the upstream side of the siphon. On the downstream side a turbine driven generator is inserted in order to reclaim a substantial part of the pumping energy. Where a very high obstacle has to be surmounted the pumps and turbines can be in cascade in order to keep pressures at a reasonable level. The use of pumps allows pipe lines to be run over obstacles where otherwise expensive tunnels would have to be driven through them.
