In a coin testing device for use with a vending machine or automatic telephone system, coins pass down a shoot through the field of an induction coil in the tuned circuit of an oscillator and the output of the oscillator rectified and applied to a gating circuit controlling a deflector at the outlet end of the shoot to divert the coins to an acceptance or rejection channel. The oscillator is tuned so that only unacceptable coin cause the oscillations to cease as they pass through the field of the induction coil. Thus, the rectifier emits an output pulse when an unacceptable coin is detected which is applied through a univibrator to control an INHIBIT gate. A second signal generated by a microswitch or a second induction coil as any coin passes down the shoot is applied directly to the input of the INHIBIT gate. The deflector comprises a pivoted finger or a flat plate pivotable about opposite edges.</p> |
