Curve tracer and transmission system - uses X=Y scanner with digital conversion for transmission to remote computer terminal

The curve tracer comprises a base plate with coordinate plotting table on which is held a drawing or graph. A scanning head is positioned directly above the graphical figure. The head is positioned via feed screws which allow it to have translation movement in the X and Y directions. The head is held in the horizontal plane by a guide rod. The respective servo motors driving the feed screws are controlled by a manually-operated joy-stick control. The operator follows the line of the graphical figure by observing it through a window in the scanning head. Sensors in the head drive system provide signals proportional to the coordinates of the head. These are fed to a micro computer and converted in modems for transmission and eventual reproduction and/or storage in a remote computer terminal.
