The dredger vessel has a suction pump for loading the hold, which can be discharged by moving the two lengthwise halves of the vessel apart. A trough (8) is formed, extending for the length of the hold above the join (9, 10) between the two halves. At the top, this trough is enclosed by a series of flaps (11) which can be individually operated. At one end it is connected to the water outside via an adjustable gate valve, while at the other it can be connected to the suction pump in order to discharge the spoil. Each flap can hinge on a horizontal axis in one half of the vessel, while in the shut position its free edge bears against an edge on the other half.
|
