A vacuum cleaner has an electric motor for a suction blower. It is fitted with several control resistors which can be selectively included in the control circuit through separate switching tracks to give motor reolution control and including and on/off switch placed in the motor circuit. A first switching track (7) ensuring a low revolution figure is coupled with the on/off switch (8) so that this track is actuated whenever the on/off switch is used and the other switching tracks (1 - 7) are detachably connected to each other through a cut-out element (11, 12). The first switching track (7) and the on/off switch (8) may be actuated by a joint operating key (14).
